New NFC Printers from Samsung

Samsung has announced two new product lines at CeBIT-2014. It is an annual computer world expo, taking place in Hannover, Germany, and gathering computer and mobile industry companies, where all the novelties and technical innovations are introduced.

New A4 laser printers with NFC capabilities are targeted to home and small office segment, to which Samsung is planning to pay more attention in 2014. Both lines—color Xpress C1860 and monochrome Xpress M2885—include two models: a printer and an MFP, all with ReCP (Rendering Engine for Clean Page)—a special Samsung technology to enhance images—and polymerised toner to brighten up colors.

The main advantages of Xpress C1860 are decent print speed of up to 18 ppm, 256 MB of RAM and two processors for reducing the waiting time and quick operation of complex print jobs. Xpress M2885 models print with the speed of up to 28 ppm, possess one processor and 128 MB of RAM.

All the models are equipped with NFC and Wi-Fi Direct technologies for direct printing of documents, web-pages and e-mails from mobile devices. Cloud Print app has been updated to provide NFC-capabilities and will be available for iOS and Android. If a mobile device is NFC-enabled, it’s easy to connect to a printer by just a tap, what can be handy in a small office without IT-help. The app could also detect up to 20 printers for a user to chose a free and the most suitable one as well as could share a document with another user connecting to his mobile device by a phone number.

The price of the gadgets is yet a secret, and they are said to be on sale in April.
