OKI is widely known for its productive and innovative machines, but this time it surpassed itself. The company launched a new C900 series of color LED printers C911dn, C931dn, C941dn with revolutionary capabilities.
C941dn — a flagship A3 model — is made for office applications. Its unique feature—printing with the use of 5 colors of toner: CMYK plus white or clear—greatly enhances creative capabilities and image quality of the output. It can print on a broadest types of media from 360 g/m extra-thick card stock to 14 mil polyester and magnetic media and it can handle different sizes of media from 3×5-inch index cards to 13×52-inch banners.
The use of clear toner allows to produce unusual visual effects. When spot clear toner is put over CMYK, a brilliant effect is achieved. With the white toner it’s easy to print on dark-colored media with an excellent result. The model has improved abilities of printing on gloss and matte media. Fiery® XF RIP server (optional) helps to improve image management.
The impressive print speed of up to 50 ppm (both in color and monochrome modes), image resolution of 1200×1200 dpi, monthly duty cycle of 300,000 pages and highest capacity consumables in its class (up to 38,000 pages, based on ISO) makes OKI C941dn a very attractive purchase, while its total cost of ownership is the lowest, compared with the devices of the competing brands.
Not long ago Sharp launched a new line of MFPs with a capability of wireless connection. Four new models allow companies improve office workflows, using the most advanced technological solutions.
The main advantages of these multifunctional devices are high productivity and print speed (up to 51 ppm in color and monochrome modes). However their most significant feature is multiple wireless connectivity (to a cloud, to different operational systems, to mobile devices), what helps go with the tides. Sharp has broadened the function of its MFPs from simple data handling units to networked digital systems. The models are equipped with the high resolution 10.1’ touch-screens, providing the full and instant access to Internet and cloud applications, allowing users to find the needed information quickly and check e-mail as well as attachments at once.
Besides the default functions of printing, scanning and copying, MX devices provide such significant functions as Sharp OSA 4 platform (Open Systems Architecture) for simple integration with network applications and cloud services, PCL and Adobe PostScript 3 support, broad choice of paper trays (with maximum capacity of 6 600 pages), efficient network security for reliable user identification, encryption and data deletion.
Fujifilm has introduced a new portable photoprinter Instax Share SP-1. It allows to use iPhone as once popular Polaroid cameras—to make a shot and print it right away. The printer is compact in size, and its photos are a little bit smaller than that of a Polariod—62 x 46 mm against 78 x 79 mm.
Wi-Fi is used to connect the device. To make everything work, it’s necessary to download Instax Share App on the smartphone or tablet (it is available for iOS and Android). For the convenience of users, there is a button on the printer, which allows to make as many copies of a photo as needed. If desired, it’s possible to add a date and an hour on the printout and even the GPS-coordinates of the place, where it was taken.
Fujifilm Instax Share SP-1 is operated from a battery, which power capacity is enough to make 100 shots.
According to the manufacturer, this special printer will enter the market in April 2014. Its approximate price is planned to be rather high—about $200 (70 cents per photo).
